This open/public 3 day First Aid at Work course is a nationally recognised qualification.

It is an affordable way to train small numbers of staff in the full 3 day first aid course and provide full first aid cover in your organisation.


First Aid at Work training course

This first aid at work course consists of 3 days/18 hours first aid training.
 
This first aid course is compliant with the Health & Safety Executive HSE requirements, as required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The course covers the most common serious illnesses and injuries that can occur in the work place. The skills learnt on this course can help save lives at work, home, and at play.

Free Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification included.

On successful completion, the learner will be recognised as a First Aider in the Workplace and will be able to:

  • Anaphylactic Shock: Administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylactic shock.
  • Bites & Stings: Respond appropriately to bites and stings.
  • Burns & Scalds: Administer first aid to a casualty with burns (including electrical) and scalds.
  • Chest Injuries: Administer first aid to a casualty with chest injuries.
  • Choking: Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
  • CPR & AED: Administer CPR, including using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Extremes of Body Temperature: Provide appropriate first aid for extremes of body temperature.
  • Foreign Objects & Eye Injuries: Respond appropriately to foreign objects in the eyes, ears and nose, and eye injuries.
  • Head, Neck & Back Injuries: Respond appropriately to head, neck and back injuries.
  • Initial Assessment: Assess the situation and circumstances to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency.
  • Major Illnesses: Recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid, including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, and diabetes.
  • Minor Injuries: Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries, including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns (including electrical), scalds, and splinters.
  • Musculoskeletal & Spinal Injuries: Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries.
  • Poisoning: Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning.
  • Role of the First Aider: Understand the role of the first aider, including gaining consent, preventing cross-infection, recording incidents and actions, and using available equipment.
  • Secondary Assessment: Administer a thorough head-to-toe examination of the casualty to identify signs of injury or illness, gather relevant history, and monitor signs to inform ongoing care.
  • Shock: Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
  • Unresponsive Casualty: Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive, including seizures.
  • Wounds & Bleeding: Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding.
