Onsite First Aid Training in Stockport

Our Stockport public first aid courses run at the Heaton Chapel Guide Hut on Chandos Road — all 12 of the dates currently in the diary, through to December 2026, are held there. We have been teaching public first aid in the town since July 2019 and have run 84 courses here in that time. Earlier Stockport dates were also hosted at the Ladybrook Hotel.

Caroline House, our own training centre in Audenshaw, Tameside, is a short drive from Stockport, so onsite first aid training at your own premises is routine rather than an exception. Because the centre is that close, we can often take Stockport bookings at short notice as well as planned ones.

Emergency First Aid at Work Training Description

The HSE compliant blended 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work / EFAW training course must be a minimum of 6 hours training time to learn first aid with a mixture of theory online, individual and group work, and practical sessions.

3 hours of this blended online first aid course is completed at your own pace before the classroom time. The remaining 3 hours is completed in a classroom on a specific date.

Important: 100% online first aid courses are not valid in the UK, you must still do the practical elements of a recognised first aid course in a classroom.

HSE Compliant

No prior knowledge or experience of first aid is required.

Assessment: all attendees on this course are continuously assessed by the trainer.  There is a multiple choice test and practical assessments during the day. Attendees must reach the required level of knowledge and skills to be awarded the certificate.

The course syllabus is as required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
On successful completion this gives the learner the right to be an ‘Emergency First Aider in the Work Place’.

On completion of training successful candidates will be able to:

  • Choking: Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
  • CPR & AED: Administer CPR, including the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Initial Assessment: Assess the situation and circumstances to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency.

  • Role of the Emergency First Aider: Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to gaining consent, preventing cross-infection, recording incidents and actions, and using available equipment.
  • Shock: Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
  • Unresponsive Casualty: Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive, including seizures.

Assessment Type

Options: 100% Practical or End of Course Test and Practical

Attendees on this course can be assessed by one of the following options:

  1. Practical assessment of key skills e.g. CPR and recovery position.
Theory assessment by an end-of-course multiple choice test.
A good option for staff who want a mix of practical and theory and who perform well with written tests.
  2. 100% practical assessment of all skills.
There is no end-of-course test. Attendees must participate fully during the course.
This assessment option should be considered for learners who enjoy practical work. It is a good option for learners who may not have English as a first language. Learners must still have a good understanding of spoken English.

All learners on a course must be assessed using the same option.
