Emergency First Aid at Work +F (inc. Emergency Paediatric First Aid) Course Description

This is the +F first aid requirement included on the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course (inc. EPFA).

The price includes the normal 1 day EFAW course and the additional +F first aid topics.  There is nothing else to pay.

Additional topics covered:

  • Dealing with a major bleed inc. clotting agents, tourniquets: genuine and improvised
  • Crush injury
  • Lyme disease (and tick removal)
  • Hypothermia (we also include heat exhaustion and heat stroke)

This is a 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work / EFAW training course.
It consists of 6 classroom hours to learn first aid with a mixture of theory, individual and group work, and practical sessions.

HSE Compliant and Level 3 equivalent (note: some providers also refer to this as Level 2 equivalent, it depends on the system being used... they are all equivalent qualifications).

NOTE: this course now includes the Emergency Paediatric First Aid course syllabus. The certificate is valid for both the adult and child qualifications. The Ofsted and Early Years emergency paediatric first aid requirement is 6 hours of training in the skills needed to preserve and prolong life in an emergency situation involving children and babies. This course is ideal if you are looking for an HSE recognised 1 day first aid course to cover emergency adult and paediatric first aid training near you (this is not a substitute for the 2 day Paediatric First Aid course for schools and child care settings).

No prior knowledge or experience of first aid is required.

Assessment: all attendees on this course are continuously assessed by the trainer.  There is a multiple choice test and practical assessments during the day. Attendees must reach the required level of knowledge and skills to be awarded the certificate.

The course syllabus is as required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
On successful completion this gives the learner the right to be an ‘Emergency First Aider in the Work Place’.

On completion of training successful candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
    • The importance of preventing cross infection
    • The need for recording incidents and actions
    • Use of available equipment
    • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency
