Mental Health First Aid for Children Training

First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing training for working with children.

This Mental Health training course is aimed at anyone looking after or working with children. Staff will gain the skills and knowledge to support children with their mental health and wellbeing.

The course is relevant for both primary and secondary school mental health training.

Staff Learning Outcomes

By the end of the training, staff will be able to:

1. Respond Effectively in a Crisis

   • Show others what actions to take during a mental health crisis.

2. Implement Wellbeing Initiatives

   • Demonstrate how mental health and wellbeing strategies are applied in practice.

3. Prevent Escalation of Concerns

   • Identify and address mental health concerns before they become serious issues.

4. Understand Child Mental Health

   • Recognize and support child mental health and wellness needs.

5. Develop Crisis Management Plans

   • Create plans for handling mental health crises in the workplace.

6. Establish Referral Pathways for Children

   • Ensure children receive successful referrals when needed.

7. Meet Ofsted Requirements

   • Demonstrate how to support a child’s mental health and wellbeing to Ofsted.

8. Create a Workplace Mental Health Strategy

   • Develop an overall approach for managing mental health in the workplace.

9. Signpost to Resources

   • Direct staff and children to appropriate mental health and wellbeing resources.

This course can be delivered by Zoom/Teams, in your own venue, or in one of our venues.
