6 Hours: 1 Day Fire Safety Course in Sheffield
Fire marshal and fire warden are largely interchangeable titles for the same workplace role: a trained person responsible for fire prevention checks and safe evacuation. First Aid For All runs a 1 day course that trains both, delivered onsite across Greater Manchester and nationwide.
First Aid For All is expanding into South Yorkshire. We have delivered Emergency First Aid at Work onsite in Sheffield before, and our trainers based in Doncaster and Wakefield cover Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley for onsite training at your premises, on a date you choose. Onsite is the right option for a group of six or more: the trainer brings the equipment, the course runs in your own workplace and certificates follow the same accreditation as our public dates.
We are not yet running open public dates in Sheffield. The nearest scheduled public dates are listed below with their distance from the city. If you need a place for one or two people, register your interest: once enough people have asked we will book a Sheffield venue and contact everyone who registered before the date goes on general sale.

This is a 1 day/ 6 hour Fire Marshal inc Fire Warden training course
This is a more in-depth course than the fire warden training and it is aimed at people who are going to be managing staff in their role as a fire safety person (fire warden) in the workplace.
This course also covers the 3 hour Fire Warden course syllabus. This can be delivered in the first 3 hours of the course. You can have some people just attend the first 3 hours to be a Fire Warden and have others stay for the full day to be a Fire Marshal.
Learners will come away with a good understanding of managing fire risks and threats and be able to apply this knowledge to their specific workplace and the fire safety staff they are managing.

In practice, yes. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person to appoint a sufficient number of competent people to help carry out fire safety measures and evacuation. Fire marshal training is how most employers evidence that competence.
Typically every 3 years, and annually in higher-risk premises or wherever your fire risk assessment calls for it. Refresher training is also sensible after a change of premises, a change of role, or a poor evacuation drill.
There is no legal distinction - the two titles describe the same role. Some organisations use fire warden for the person who sweeps a floor or zone during an evacuation, and fire marshal for the person coordinating it at the assembly point, but the training is the same.
The 1 day course covers fire safety law and the duties of the responsible person, common causes of workplace fire, the fire triangle and fire spread, fire risk assessment basics, extinguisher types and when each should be used, raising the alarm, and running a safe evacuation and roll call. Group and onsite pricing is quoted per course - contact us for a quote.
