There is a lot of confusion and misinformation around the rules and regulations for online first aid training during Covid restrictions.
We are aware some providers are saying 100% online first aid training is compliant and provides sufficient cover for UK workplaces and schools: it is NOT compliant!
The following is from the Department of Education: “ Our policy on PFA training, including that it should include face to face, is set out in an article we put on the Foundation Years website. The article is here: Face-to-face Paediatric First Aid training during the COVID-19 pandemic In addition in regard to training via Zoom we would say that it doesn’t meet the criteria for face to face training.
Early Years Strategy, Quality and Covid Response Early Years and Schools Group Department for Education ” There is also more information on the HSE website about this: "First aid during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic". 2023: this has been replaced by COVID-19 restrictions replaced by public health advice
Please don't get caught out by this! Responsibility for your organisations compliance with the rules and regulations remains with you, not the training provider. Training providers will often just deliver what you ask them to.
