The aim of the course is to help people realise the scope of OCD themes, understand the distress of the condition, how it impacts on people’s lives, common causes of OCD and to reduce stigma and inappropriate language.

NHS: "Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental health condition where you have recurring thoughts and repetitive behaviours that you cannot control."

It will cover possible treatments options, where treatment information can be found but will not recommend or advise people on treatments.

OCD is very much an emotions driven disorder where people feel anxious or that something isn't right, therefore one aim of the workshop is to help participants to feel what it's like to have OCD.

The OCD Workshop includes the following:

·  What is OCD and misconceptions
·  Who suffers from OCD
·  The causes of OCD
·  The impact of OCD
·  Understanding OCD
·  What are intrusive thoughts, obsessions and compulsions
·  How OCD feels (this involves an interactive exercise using visualisation techniques to allow the participant to feel what its like to have OCD and anxiety)
·  An uplifting exercise to return the participants to a positive state of mind
·  OCD in the workplace and risk assessment
·  Social and economic impact of OCD

(NOTE:  this workshop may contain OCD triggers and may not be suitable for you if you already have or are at risk of developing OCD. If you are unsure whether to participate or not please contact us before booking. A 10 minute visualisation exercise inducing anxious and unpleasant thoughts and feelings may be used in this workshop, however participants will be warned beforehand and recommended to step out of the exercise if they wish or if they feel it could have lasting effects for them.)
