First Aid for Dentist CPR and AED Training

Keep your dental team compliant with their annual CPR & medical emergencies update. Delivered onsite at your practice, this focused 2 hour session is built around the resuscitation update that the GDC and Resuscitation Council UK expect of every clinical dental professional, each year.

The Resuscitation Council UK Quality Standards: Primary Dental Care ask that all clinical dental staff refresh their CPR knowledge and skills at least once a year. The GDC also recommends medical emergencies as a core CPD topic – a minimum of 10 hours over your five year cycle, around 2 hours each year. This session is designed to meet that requirement and can be recorded by each registrant as enhanced (verifiable) CPD.

Covered as standard:

• Recognising and managing a medical emergency in the dental setting
• CPR for adults, and the key differences for children where your practice treats under 18s
• Safe, effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• The unresponsive casualty, including seizures and the recovery position
• Choking, anaphylaxis and adrenaline auto-injectors.

Tailored to your practice on request – we can add the medical emergencies your team most wants, for example asthma, hypoglycaemia, angina and heart attack, fainting, etc.

Certificates, your way: we can add each attendee’s photograph and their GMC/GDC registration number to the first aid certificate – ready for your CPD records and CQC evidence.

On successful completion, each learner will be able to:

1. Role of the emergency first aider – including gaining consent, preventing cross-infection, recording incidents and actions, and using available equipment.
2. Initial assessment – assess the situation to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
3. Unresponsive casualty – care for a casualty who is unresponsive, including seizures.
4. CPR & AED – perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator.
5. Choking – help a casualty who is choking.

Course details: 2 hours · onsite at your practice · up to 12 people · certificate valid 1 year · continuous practical assessment, no written exam.
