Emergency First Aid at Work +F Training Description

This is the +F first aid requirement added to the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course.

The price includes the 1 day EFAW course and the additional +F first aid topics. There is nothing else to pay.

Additional topics covered:

Dealing with a severe bleed inc. tourniquets: genuine and improvised
Crush injury
Tick bites, tick removal and Lyme disease
Hypothermia (we also include heat exhaustion and heat stroke)

The HSE compliant 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work / EFAW training course must be a minimum of 6 hours training time to learn first aid with a mixture of theory, individual and group work, and practical sessions.

This course is accepted by the HSE and it is Level 3.

No prior knowledge or experience of first aid is required.

The course syllabus is as required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
On successful completion this gives the learner the right to be an ‘Emergency First Aider in the Work Place’.

On successful completion, the learner will be recognised as an Emergency First Aider in the Workplace and will be able to:

Choking: Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
CPR & AED: Administer CPR, including the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
Initial Assessment: Assess the situation and circumstances to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency.
Minor Injuries: Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries, including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns (including electrical), scalds, and splinters.
Role of the Emergency First Aider: Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to gaining consent, preventing cross-infection, recording incidents and actions, and using available equipment.
Shock: Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
Unresponsive Casualty: Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive, including seizures.
Wounds & Bleeding: Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding

NOTE: this course now includes the Emergency Paediatric First Aid course syllabus. The certificate is valid for both the adult and child emergency first aid qualifications.
