Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening emergency caused by a severe allergic reaction. It can develop within seconds or minutes of exposure.
๐ฉ Common Causes
๐ฅ Foods – peanuts, shellfish, eggs, milk
๐ Medicines – antibiotics, painkillers, vaccines
๐ Insect stings – bees, wasps
๐ฟ Latex, chemicals
๐ Signs & Symptoms
โก Sudden onset of symptoms
๐ฐ Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat
๐ฎ Difficulty breathing / noisy breathing / wheezing
โค๏ธ Rapid heartbeat, weak pulse
๐คข Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain
๐ด Dizziness, confusion, collapse
๐ Can quickly progress to unconsciousness
๐ ๏ธTreatment
๐จ Call 999 Immediately
Say: “Anaphylaxis”
๐ Use Adrenaline Auto-Injector (EpiPen)

Inject into outer thigh

Can be given through clothing

Hold for 5 seconds

Record the time given

If no improvement after 5 minutes, give a second injector (if available)
๐ช Position Safely

If breathing is difficult → sit upright

If dizzy or faint → lie down with legs raised

If unconscious but breathing → recovery position
-
If not breathing → start CPR

Stay with casualty until help arrives

Loosen tight clothing

Keep them warm
