1 Day First Aid Course Details

The HSE compliant 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work / EFAW training course must be a minimum of 6 hours training time to learn first aid with a mixture of theory, individual and group work, and practical sessions.

This course is accepted by the HSE and it is Level 3.

No prior knowledge or experience of first aid is required.

The course syllabus is as required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
On successful completion this gives the learner the right to be an ‘Emergency First Aider in the Work Place’.

On completion of training successful candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
    • The importance of preventing cross infection
    • The need for recording incidents and actions
    • Use of available equipment
    • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponive (including seizure)
  • Administer CPR including using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns (inc. electrical) and scalds, splinters

 

NOTE: this course now includes the Emergency Paediatric First Aid course syllabus. The certificate is valid for both the adult and child emergency first aid qualifications.

(This course is accepted by the SIA for the security industry door supervisor first aid course requirement from April 2021.)

Parking: There is a limited amount of unrestricted on-street parking close to the Bubble Office.  This is often unavailable.

Bicycles: There is a small foyer space in which a few bicycles can be securely locked.

Important: Please leave sufficient time to get to the training venue: at least 15 minutes before the course start time.  The venue outer door is locked once training has started and the trainer will not hear the buzzer.
