Ligature Awareness Training Training Description

Ligature Training Course: highly recommended for all people caring for or working with adults and/or children who are at risk of self harming. Especially useful for staff in the specialist care services, emergency services, probation and prison services.

The course works well as face-to-face/classroom training but it can be changed to also be delivered via Zoom/Teams.

The course includes:

- legal and regulatory requirements
- action plans
- recognising ligature injuries
- identifying people at risk
- deprivation of liberty issues
- hands on with different ligature cutters (not just pictures of them)
- ligature cutters: storage, identifying, disposal
- how to safely remove someone from a ligature suspension - practical using heavy mannequin.

Videos and pictures may be used during this course, some people may find them disturbing.
