This is a Basic First Aid Course delivered over 3-hours. 
The course covers a similar syllabus to the 1 day/6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work course in less detail, with brief practical sessions.

It is not considered sufficient for most UK workplaces but it may be ideal for giving basic skills and awareness to a larger number of workplace staff.

On completion of training successful candidates will be able to:

• Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
  • The importance of preventing cross-infection
  • The need for recording incidents and actions
  • Use of available equipment
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponive (including seizure)
• Administer CPR including using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is burned or scalded

Learners are assessed by one or more of: practical assessments, verbal questions, and scenarios. There is no end-of-course test.
