2 day Mental Health Course Details
This 2 day First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing training course will give employees the knowledge and skills to be a workplace mental health first aider and wellbeing champion. The course covers a wide range of workplace mental health conditions.  The course is approved by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).
 
Suitable for employees and managers who want to understand workplace mental health and wellbeing issues.  This includes how to recognise and respond to an employee in crisis.

Learners will understand common mental health issues and the services and support available from healthcare professionals and voluntary organisations.
 
Syllabus
  • Overview of wellbeing and mental health in the workplace
  • Recognising possible signs and symptoms of a person that has mental ill-health or is suffering with stress
  • Understanding Mental health and its stigma
  • Using a Mental Health Plan to help those in crisis or need
  • Finding external professional help and guidance
  • The law in relation to mental health and the workplace
  • Best practice when helping someone to stay in work or return to work
  • Workplace policies and procedures for dealing with mental health
  • Tolerance and understanding when dealing with workplace mental health
  • Understanding potential issues and positive and negative mental health workplace practices
  • Understanding of more complex mental health conditions
  • Promoting well-being in the workplace and how you can become an Ambassador for Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Information on self-care to aid prevention to help others and yourself
The following workplace mental issues will be discussed:

  • Bipolar

  • Eating disorders
  • OCD
  • Panic attacks
  • Personality disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Psychosis
  • Schizophrenia

This includes recognising mental health conditions and how to provide the correct assistance and/or information.

Parking: lots of free on road parking in front of venue.
No onsite parking.

Driving: M60 J23 Ashton-under-Lyne (Snipe Retail Park).  We are 1 min from northbound exit. 3 min from southbound exit.
Bus: 219, stop is 10 meters from venue
Train: Guide Bridge station is 5-8 minutes walk

Access to building: press buzzer for First Aid For All.  Any issues, call 0161 250 16 16.

Free tea and coffee.

General store 50m away for snacks and sandwiches.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the course start time.
