CPR - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

For Adults, Children & Babies

? Start CPR if the person is:

  • Unresponsive
  • Not breathing or only gasping

?‍♂️ ADULT CPR (18+)

1️⃣ Check Response & Breathing

  • ?‍♂️ Tap shoulders and shout
  • Open airway (tilt head back, lift chin)
  • ? Look, ? listen, ? feel for breath (10 seconds max)

2️⃣ Call 999 ?

  • ? Ask someone to get help and an AED ⚡
  • If alone, use speaker mode and continue CPR

3️⃣ Begin CPR ?

  • Chest Compressions:
    • ✋ Hands in centre of chest
    • ? Push 5–6 cm deep, ⏱️ 100–120 per minute
  • Rescue Breaths (if trained):
    • Pinch nose, seal mouth, blow air
    • ?️ Watch chest rise

4️⃣ Continue ?

  • ? Repeat 30:2 until help arrives or the person wakes up

? CHILD CPR (1–18)

1️⃣ Check Response & Breathing

  • ? Tap shoulder, shout name
  • Open airway (tilt head back, lift chin)
  • ??? Assess breathing

2️⃣ Call 999 ?

  • ? Alone? Do CPR for 1 minute first
  • ? Someone with you? Get them to call for help and AED ⚡

3️⃣ Start CPR ?

  • Give 5 rescue breaths first
  • Then ➡️ 30 chest compressions
    • ✋ Use 1 or 2 hands depending on child size
    • ? Push 1/3 chest depth
  • 2 rescue breaths
  • ? Repeat 30:2 until help arrives or the person wakes up

? BABY CPR (Under 1 year)

1️⃣ Check Response & Breathing

  • ? Flick sole of foot
  • Open airway (neutral head position)
  • ? Look, ? listen, ? feel for breath

2️⃣ Call 999 ?

  • ? Alone? Do CPR for 1 minute before calling
  • ? If not alone, ask someone to call and fetch AED ⚡

3️⃣ Begin CPR ?

  • ? 5 gentle rescue breaths (cover mouth & nose)
  • 30 chest compressions
    • ☝️ Use two fingers in the centre of the chest
    • ? Depth: 1/3 chest depth
  • 2 rescue breaths
  • ? Continue 30:2 until help arrives or the person wakes up

⚡ USING AN AED (Defibrillator)

  • ? Use ASAP
  • ▶️ Turn on and follow voice instructions

✅ KEY REMINDERS

  • ? Call 999
  • ? Start CPR immediately
  • ⚡ Use an AED if available
  • ?‍♂️?? Adjust technique based on age
  • ? Don’t stop unless help arrives or the person wakes up
