The paediatric emergency child baby first aid course that complies with OFSTED and Early Years requirements is at least 6 hours of training.

This course is not a replacement for the 12 hour / 2 day Paediatric Child Baby First Aid Course. It will be of most use gto staff that need a good level of first aid awareness and skill and how are already working alongside staff with the 2 day paediatric firt aid qualification.

The 6 hour paediatric first aid course covers the most common and most serious sudden child and baby first aid situations. The trainee will gain the skills to preserve and prolong life in an emergency situation involving children and babies.

There is also a basic 3 hour Paediatric Child Baby First Aid Course and a Paediatric Child Baby First Aid Course 2 day/12 hour

The 1 day paediatric emergency child baby first aid training course will include:

Understand the role of the Emergency Paediatric First Aider including reference to:

  • The special needs of Infants and Children.
  • The importance of preventing cross infection.
  • The need for recording incidents and actions.
  • Use of available equipment including Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) awareness.
  • Plan for first aid emergencies.
  • Prioritising actions.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to an infant who is unresponsive but breathing normally.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to a child who is unresponsive but breathing normally.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to an infant who is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to a Child who is unresponsive but NOT breathing normally.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to an infant or child who is having a seizure.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to an infant or child who is choking.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to an infant or child who is bleeding.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to an infant or child who is in shock.
  • Provide appropriate First Aid for minor injuries, small cuts, grazes and bruises.

This is a good first aid course for people working or spending time with children and infants. The course can be tailored to suite the specific requirements of the employer or organisation.
